Ammonia nitrogen in contaminated water is called hydrated ammonia, also known as non-ionic ammonia . Non-ionic ammonia is the main factor causing aquatic toxicity. Ammonia nitrogen is a nutrient in water, which can cause eutrophication of water. It is the main oxygen-consuming pollutant in water, which is toxic to fish and some aquatic organisms. Therefore, for wastewater treatment plants, ammonia nitrogen must be discharged. From the known process of removing ammonia nitrogen, we all use nitrification to convert ammonia nitrogen into non-ionic ammonia so that it can be discharged into natural water. Because the nitrifying bacteria that are functioning are autotrophic microorganisms, and the growth rate of the nitrifying bacteria is very slow, they are also very sensitive to water quality environmental conditions such as water temperature, toxicity, impact, etc. Therefore, nitrifying bacteria are easily lost.
